Academy expansion plans confirmed

The University of Brighton Academies Trust is delighted to share the news that West Sussex County Council have agreed to support Lindfield Primary Academy in hosting a temporary bulge year to accommodate the increased demand for places. As a result, the academy will be moving to a four-form entry level academy in September 2021 for the next two years.

Alongside welcoming 30 new children into the academy, this exciting development will further support the local community by improving academy facilities. Two new classrooms will be provided, and the IT and music suites will undergo a full refurbishment – this will include upgrading existing desktop computers to mobile laptops. The community will also benefit from refreshed toilet facilities and extra play spaces for children to enjoy.

When asked about this positive new development, Marcus Still, Principal of Lindfield Primary Academy, said: “We are all very excited about this opportunity - not only for our existing pupils who will benefit from more play space and technology, but for our future community within our village.”

Graham Olway, Assistant Director of Education and Skills at West Sussex County Council, expressed: “We really appreciate the hard work of the academy Trust, school staff and officers at the County Council who are working in partnership to ensure Lindfield children can attend their catchment school. This is a good example of cross-organisational working to provide the best for the children and young people of this popular village as it grows and develops.”

Dr John Smith, Chief Executive of The University of Brighton Academies Trust, concluded by saying: “I am very pleased with this outcome for Lindfield Primary Academy and the whole school community. I am confident that the new arrangements will underpin the fantastic work already achieved by Mr Still and his dedicated team - who work tirelessly to provide pupils with high-quality education provision day-in, day-out. We look forward to welcoming the additional pupils into our academy family.”
