PE Curriculum

Our children complete 2 hours of PE/Sport every week. This consists of dance, gymnastics, games and athletics. We also go swimming in Year 3.

These activities promote control, skilfulness, physical development and knowledge of the body in action. They also provide opportunities for our pupils to be creative, competitive and to face up to different challenges as individuals and as a member of a team.

At Lindfield we are proud of our intra and inter school competitions. We work in our house teams in mini events throughout the year, which culminates in our School Games day in the summer term. Children are also given the opportunity to compete against other schools in dozens of matches and competitions throughout every year.

Whole School PE Plan

“Real PE is a unique, child-centered approach
that transforms how we teach PE to
engage and challenge EVERY child in primary school.”

Active 30:30

At Lindfield Primary Academy we are committed to helping children live a healthy and active lifestyle. The Government Childhood Obesity Plan has set out the ambition for all children to achieve 60 minutes of physical activity every day, with schools being responsible for delivering an additional 30 minutes of exercise a day on top of their 2 hours of PE sessions each week.

Lindfield has been dedicated to increasing the enjoyment of physical activity and incorporating this within lessons, playtimes, and after school activities.

School Games Platinum Award

'Lindfield Primary Academy are delighted to announce that we have achieved the PLATINUM award for the School Games Mark! The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

KS1 Quality Start Award

Lindfield Primary Academy are delighted to announce that we have received the GOLD award for the KS1 Quality Start Award! Our school has been working hard to increase the engagement in physical education for all children and as a result the profile for sport across the school has been raised. Our school has created some great links with local secondary schools and the community to increase the amount of festivals and competitions we offer the children. The children at Lindfield are becoming more aware of healthy lifestyle choices and have been committed to challenging themselves in their PE lessons. A great success!
